I’ve been doing a bit of hurricane bill tracking these past few days. It’s not so much that I am into hurricane watching, or even that hurricane season affects me over here in the UK. That said, there’s something about powerful storms – and ever since Hurricane Katrina…well, we all know how that went. Sort of the mother of all hurricanes. I posted ages back about Hurricane Ike, and the distinct lack of media coverage which surrounded it. Hurricane Ike was in many ways as devastating as Katrina, yet it was covered by a media black out. You can see a short video regarding this below.

So I’ve gone that bit extra and followed this Hurricane Bill tracking, and appears to have reduced somewhat in temperament. That doesn’t mean a whole lot in itself though I guess. Anything can happen, and stranger things certainly have happened. I guess a lot of people will still be watching those tracking satellites.

Incidentally I find it somewhat amusing that Hurricane Bill tracking shows Hurricane Bill potentially approaching President Omaba’s vacation location. Life is full of symbolism and hidden messages…so I have to ask what the symbolism here may be. Interesting stuff. That said, with the potential of Hurricane Bill tracking downgrading the storm to a “tropical storm”, there may also be a form of symbolism in that.

Anyway here’s that video I mentioned. And let us hope that Hurricane Bill proves to be unremarkable.

There’s too much confusion…

…there must be some way out of here…

…the 24hr news stream echoes through every room. Pandemics, Economic Collapse, Government in Disarray, Global Warming…change is in the air. There is indeed too much confusion for any and all who have invested heavily into the old reality tunnel. Madness rides in that direction. Holding tightly onto the freight train that refuses to shift into the new paradigm – maybe these tracks end with mental breakdown, or maybe with awakening.

…but you and I, we’ve been through that, and this is not our fate…

Life isn’t what we have been shown, this realisation is dawning. A new age approaches, a new time – and a question emerges; do we remain, or do we change? Consciousness shifts, the intellect kneels in recognition and awe. Feeling imbues our being and with it comes understanding of the new world. Of Emergence.

…so let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late…

The light gleams ahead, beckoning with passion, compassion and destiny. A well of power arises within; faint…indescribable – beating with strength. Through the dark mists of our past emerges clarity. Knowing. Feeling…

As if a broken mirror the world shatters into a million pieces, every part catching that knowing light – illuminating…

…everything…

Each fragment becomes a life of its own, drifting with pre-determination in the seeming black void of space. Fertile ground; a true world. Reality without the scales of illusion. Acceptance.

…outside in the distance a wildcat did growl…

Finally our nature is revealed; dark, powerful, primal. Finally our nature is revealed; aware, perceptive, compassionate. At last the dust settles and the two become one.

…two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl…

Reality trembles at what is to come. We face no one now but ourselves; the mirror is shattered, the illusion irrevocably removed. Now we see the way of things, and we are ready…

…for Emergence…

Welcome to you readers of Holland SF – the Dutch Sci-Fi magazine – who will have read my Battlestar Galactica article published in the September edition of the magazine, which has recently hit the shelves. You may like to take a look at the ‘Meaning in Media’ section here where I take a closer look at some other movies, video games and such things.

Sci-Fi was a massive influence on me as I grew up. Even today it is one of the only fields in media that willingly explores esoteric, mystical and philosophical ideas. Perhaps the greatest work of inspiration to me was Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’, which works on so many levels and has such amazing depth. In fact Frank Herbert’s own term of ‘Wheels within wheels’ can be applied to the novel. Every time I re-read the book, an entire new slant and perspective emerges.

Interestingly it is no longer just the area of Sci-Fi which is dealing with esoteric and philosophical concepts. Leading edge science is now treading that same ground, as they return to the ideas of ancient times, taking with them the combined knowledge and technology of the modern age. I like the way Battlestar Galactica merges ideas of a spiritual nature with the scientific possibilities. And that stuff is going on right now, here’s a great example:

So it comes down more and more, and I have to wonder how long sites like this one will be allowed to keep going. Maybe that is somewhat despairing paranoia on my part? New Police-like powers have been granted to a wide range of private citizens in the UK. Now council workers, private security firms, dog wardens and housing officers among others have the ability to issue fines for minor so called ‘criminal acts’ such as dropping litter. They also go as far as having the power to demand your identity and address as well as publish a photo of you in the local newspapers, such as happened to this poor lady:

UK ‘Secret Police Force’

How long until we can be fined for being ‘politically incorrect…

…How long until these ‘Community Safety Accreditation’ Officers get the power to arrest and enter homes?

As if all this isn’t enough, plans are underway to outfit supermarkets with holding cells, for shoplifters (and other ‘criminals’ who come under the scrutiny of the ‘Community Safety Accreditation’ officers?)

The short-term lockups could hold prisoners for up to four hours where they would be finger-printed, photographed and have a DNA sample taken.

They would allow beat bobbies to remove offenders from circulation without spending too long off the street themselves.

Offenders held in the cells could then either be released with a fine, or referred for further action or charging.

The so-called “supermarket cells” have already been piloted in Selfridges on Oxford Street.

Supermarket Holding Cells

I won’t draw any historical parallels, because all but the most idiotic will be able to see them.

A number of widely recognised writers have started removing articles from their websites – Stuart Wilde among them, leaving numerous implications of the place such articles will have in the future. Where do we draw the line between giving into fear and using intuition and self-preservation? But then what is written down is essentially permanent…yes even on the Internet…Google stores everything!

Back in April I mentioned some rumours regarding police officers going on ’secret’ training for riot control. Other rumours from the same source were regarding private citizens being issued police-like powers. The reason? Well because there is a ‘war’ coming, in the resulting chaos the police and military will be required for extensive riot control. At the time I thought the rumours too fantastical to even bother posting. But here we are with ‘Community Safety Accreditation’ Officers, and brewing trouble in Georgia.

When I hear what is occurring in Georgia I am reminded of the situation with Germany and Poland; a ’small’ conflict which ignited across the entire world. There are too many countries getting involved, there are lines and alliances being drawn. There is a marked arrogance with threatening Russia with economic sanctions when much of Europe is so dependant upon Russian gas and oil. This to me seems one of the largest powder kegs for decades.

So where do we go from here as individuals? We can keep our heads down, and walk a silent inner path of spiritual awareness. But how far can this take us? A time seems to be approaching where there will be no where to hide, and no stone left unturned. Where ’secret police’ will be watching from undercover, badges waiting to be flashed, and penalties issued. It’s all spiralling down.

I look out the window and it isn’t as dark as I imaged such times would look. It isn’t bleak, it isn’t overcast neither is it raining. It looks just as it has ever done. There’s a profound truth in that isn’t there?

Obsessions are a funny thing aren’t they? They can come upon us in an instant, or they can build up slowly across an entire lifetime. Obsessions take all forms and manners as well. Not only are obsessions about the things we like to do, but they also entail the way we think. I am not really talking about specific obsessive thoughts, like obsessing over that elusive lost love…rather I am talking about an obsessive style of thinking. Some may say that it is all just done to personality; some people are self-serving, others are self-subserviant, others still are encased in perteptual negativity or paranoia. Is laziness a personality trait or an obsession?

I put it out there that any element of our personality which we dredge up again and again – traits which serve no real purpose such as bitterness, negativity, angst, perpetual hostility, are in fact obsessive patterns. Maybe we get addicted to the particular brain chemical a set thought process releases, or maybe a part of us finds such thought patterns comforting if only because they give us something to latch on to and help form our identity.

Where then do we draw a line between an attitude being an element of our personality as opposed to being an obsession? Well it seems to me, that obsessions are always very defensive – they get aggravated when they are pointed out, they have a need to justify and explain themselves. Where as conversly, personality elements simply trundle along and are what they are, be they of a positive of negative bent tends to be immatarial to the true personality element – it exists in and of itself.

I see this in myself a lot. Obsessive thoughts, beliefs or attitudes are always carried right out on display, or they loop over and over within the mind. They look for any event or excuse in order to jump right back out again – often creating quite a display for those people around us. Obsessions like to be experienced – and will always choose a course of action or take a particular perspective which will allow for this.

Personality traits are different. These are the places where perhaps we feel most comfortable, because we tend not to think about them. They simply ‘happen’ of their own accord. But what about those things we enjoy doing? Are those obsessions? Well even when we do them again and again, I would say no – there is a difference between enjoyment, pleasure and obsession – even though most often they are utterly intermixed.

But then obsessions are not necessarily a bad thing; they give us drive and strong motivation. Yet they do pose a problem when they blanket our thoughts, words and actions. Perhaps we only need be mindful of what drives our next sentance, our next action, our next thought…

…intent, consideration…or automated unthinking obsession…

Everything is so noisy these days. I think it is an echo of what goes on inside people’s heads. Or perhaps the noise inside our heads is an echo of what is going on “out there” in the external world.

Sometimes it is very hard to find any tranquillity. Recently I started becoming aware of my thoughts whilst I sleep! It is a warm, fuzzy semi-lucid awareness, but even there in sleep, my mind is full of racing thoughts. I am aware to the level that I can feel the thoughts as they occur – there is no linearity to them, my awareness is only on each thought as it occurs. But the moment I wake up I can follow the string of thoughts back. An entire stream of them!

My conscious mind of course is elsewhere at the time of sleep; I was sleeping and wasn’t fully lucid. So where did I go – and if I had gone away somewhere, who’s thoughts were there in my head whilst I slept?

The thing of it is; when I am awake and supposedly fully lucid – the racing thoughts are still present. Carrying on in an uninterrupted manner – seemingly it doesn’t matter whether I am asleep or awake…I constantly have the same stream of unlinked garbage going through my head.

So how often do we mistake these thoughts for an actual thinking process rather than background noise? As I am writing this the humming of the air-conditioner is ever present in the background. Noisy minds are a little like that. The air-conditioner isn’t me either.

The world is full of noise – it over-powers the noise of our minds. In turn the noise of our minds over-power the noise of our lives. It doesn’t stop. Not even in sleep! It is very hard to be peaceful and focused, we aren’t allowed – everything stops us from doing so, including ourselves. We do not stop long enough to see what we are doing and who we are. The noise of the world around us, the noise in our minds – all of it distracts us, and like crazy people we associate ourselves with it. We identify inwardly and outwardly with what is nothing more than static. The static of the technology around us has only served to increase the amount of noise. Everything picks up pace and it is coming faster and more often with little letup.

Digital technology may have reduced the noise of old analogue static – the white snowy pictures on your TV. But it has replaced it with a quantity and volume that is impossible to keep up with. It doesn’t matter if you don’t watch it, and it does not matter if you don’t listen to it. It is all there – always in the background – or else being transmitted through the air and through your body.

Our thoughts are a bit like that too. We transmit them all over the place – in a sense we are like biological transmitters and receivers. We are all linked; strings of emotions and thoughts spread over the entire planet. We all pick up on them – we are hard wired into the human emotional / mental grid and we have got no firewall or protection. Heck most of us don’t even realise we are connected.

Is it like being superficial – but on the inside?

All surface and no real content?

That is the trick – the little sideways twist. Organised thought is not what it is cracked up to be. Connecting the points from A to B to C – it is how we are taught, and it is slow, tedious and often does not even work. Things get missed; we are like horses walking along with blinders. Tunnel vision. We can’t connect all the dots when we can’t see them.

Buried among the noise are a lot of dots, many useable and worthwhile – and some of not much use at all. We ignore them all because they sound like static, and A does not link to B. Sometimes A links to E, H or even Z. It doesn’t really make much sense to a mind that attempts to be organised and linear.

It probably explains the saying; “There is a fine line between madness and genius”.

There is something about linear thinking that makes me think of the story of Hansel and Gretel, leaving their trail of breadcrumbs so that they will not get lost. Anyone following those breadcrumbs would have ended up right at the witch’s house as well. Even an animal can follow an easily laid out trail.

Breadcrumbs. Carrot on a stick.

Rats in a maze.

The concept of linear thinking is fine in and of itself. But who lays out the breadcrumbs? Who told us which method of thinking is “okay” and which method is crazy, useless – insane even?

In the TV series X-Files, Fox Mulder was considered spooky – “out there”, and so he was relegated to the basement. There are a lot of interesting and useful dots in the basement of our mind. High flyers sit on the upper floors, developing systems of analysis, recording data and searching for those elusive connections. When Scully moved into the basement – ultimately she learnt how to make those connections intuitively; jumping from A to H to Y.

Is there a difference between the noise we as humans generate with our systems, laws, bureaucratic nonsense, media and our technology – and the noise of our inner minds? Is it possible that one set of noise is the static of the false world we have created – and the other set of noise is the signal of our reality, the Universe, our higher-selves, God?

The speed at which our lives move has gathered pace. The more dependant we become upon technology, the faster we go – the higher our expectations become. How many devices do you carry around on a daily basis? A cell phone, an iPod and / or PDA? Think about the devices in your home, a TV, DVD Player, Computer, Laptop, Phone, another TV, wireless routers. How much noise do they generate – how much media consumption do they provide?

It’s gathering pace; things are moving faster now. There is more noise in our minds than ever before. But our reality keeps pace, the faster our minds become capable of working, the more information we will receive – not just the information of our technology – but information from other living beings – and information from the Universe itself.

We can see more now, our mental capacities have increased. That is the gift technology has given us. For what will we use that gift? Further media consumption, to help us live our artificial lives?

Or maybe we can use the new found capacity to tune into the signal of our reality. It too has gathered pace – a quickening of information. A change in the fabric of our reality, we can feel it. The Earth is feeling it – and it is reeling, look around it is easy to see.

Listen to the noise, what is it telling you?

I’m not one to pay much attention to the news; however a few things of interest have jumped out at me recently. House prices in Ireland have dropped by 5%, whilst in the UK house prices are in the worst state for seven years. In the US things aren’t much better.

The average media outlet are still avoiding the words ‘market crash’, as they roll out expert after expert in an attempt to stifle fears. But the truth can’t be hidden for much longer. Round here the demand for state sponsored housing has gone through the roof. It’s kept quiet – and many people still believe the government hands out house after house. The truth is that the waiting lists for just one community is in the multiple of thousands. Many people are living up to seven people in a two bedroom, you won’t read that in the news – though the information is readily apparent if you speak to community workers. That alone reminds me of conditions in the 40’s and 50’s; yes we are a long way off from that yet, but the signs are all there.

Meanwhile I noticed that gold has it over £450 – that’s $900 per ounce!! $1000 really isn’t that far away now. Silver is still selling relatively cheaply, and I would recommend stocking up on some if you have spare cash. In the last 18 months alone – you would have seen around a 50% return.

On the environmental side of things – here in the UK the floods seem to keep on coming.

So all round the same old themes we have been seeing for the last few years. Only think missing is the ’surprise discovery’ news, or not; remains of 1 ton rodent discovered.
