I’ve been doing a bit of hurricane bill tracking these past few days. It’s not so much that I am into hurricane watching, or even that hurricane season affects me over here in the UK. That said, there’s something about powerful storms – and ever since Hurricane Katrina…well, we all know how that went. Sort of the mother of all hurricanes. I posted ages back about Hurricane Ike, and the distinct lack of media coverage which surrounded it. Hurricane Ike was in many ways as devastating as Katrina, yet it was covered by a media black out. You can see a short video regarding this below.

So I’ve gone that bit extra and followed this Hurricane Bill tracking, and appears to have reduced somewhat in temperament. That doesn’t mean a whole lot in itself though I guess. Anything can happen, and stranger things certainly have happened. I guess a lot of people will still be watching those tracking satellites.

Incidentally I find it somewhat amusing that Hurricane Bill tracking shows Hurricane Bill potentially approaching President Omaba’s vacation location. Life is full of symbolism and hidden messages…so I have to ask what the symbolism here may be. Interesting stuff. That said, with the potential of Hurricane Bill tracking downgrading the storm to a “tropical storm”, there may also be a form of symbolism in that.

Anyway here’s that video I mentioned. And let us hope that Hurricane Bill proves to be unremarkable.

By now it is becoming ever clearer that the wheels are falling of society. The media on the one hand is losing its grip and getting caught up within its own hysteria, with the over hyped flying-pig flu. Meanwhile back in the UK the same media is letting lose an unprecedented torrent against all level of government ministers regardless of party affiliation – charges of corruption (along with evidence) are being presented to the public on a daily basis. It’s a thread of investigation that many don’t want tugged at, after all – where does it stop – all power levels are involved in this game. And it may just be coming down around their ears.

Add this to the continuing economic woes – which are still getting worse, along with the startings of a food safety crises, then the mix is starting to bubble quite well. The average Joe-Public would be forgiven for wondering what the hell is going on. The answer is clear, just take a look at Obama’s recent reversal of policy.

Someone, somewhere is shaking the cages of society and those who believed themselves to be in the higher echelons of power, appear to be feeling they are now on rickety grounds. The mid-level ‘power-classes’ of Prime-Ministers and Presidents are getting caught up within their own shenanigans. The problem with this, is that they will need to tighten their grip in order to maintain control. After all – no one knows what is around the corner – the power-structure may well present a different field in the future. Will there be a place for the current crop of minions? They maybe hedging their bets – but they will try anything to ensure they are still needed.

But bear with them, there is a lot more to come – the show has barely begun. The vast clambering cage of society is showing its antiquity. And whilst its decaying carcase is being heaved and chained into the 21st century it appears the coming age simply will not accept its presence. So – here we stand at the beginning of a transition unlike anything in recorded history.

So, what’s next? Well it appears we have moved pretty much squarely into the world the conspiracy theorists have described – let’s take a look at that for a moment. The current US Government admits to US torture – 10 years ago that idea was ‘conspiracy’. The media has blown many things out of all proportion, in fact very few people I know actually believe the flying-pig flu ‘hype’ – so the media outright lie – 10 years ago that was ‘conspiracy’. In 2009 we have the food regulations agencies saying they can no longer monitor the safety of food, it wasn’t long ago a person was considered a bit of out an outsider for having distrust in commercial foods. It’s also become blatantly obvious that the economy has been manipulated for a very long time – now there is very nearly a state of ‘common knowledge’ regarding the vast economic con-game that has been played out.

What does it all mean? Well the wheels are falling off aren’t they. The juggernaut of society is collapsing in upon itself, those still in denial are hidden within the coming wreckage, whilst those ‘conspiracy-theorists’ are clambering all over society’s failing shell prising it apart with much glee. Unfortunately – when it all finally fails – both groups are going to be caught in the wreckage, as both groups require the system to define their knowledge and understanding.

To anyone with half a brain who has watched all this unfold – they will have realised a good while ago that the time to get off this ride is long past. The game is up. Let’s move onto something else. If we have learnt one thing from this entire catastrophe – it is that we must not put our individual power in the hands of others. We simply don’t play their game. We don’t work their jobs on their terms, we don’t buy their food on their terms, and most assuredly we don’t do anything so inane as protesting against them. Step away from it all completely and let it takes its path…

…and then choose your own path…

Negative emotional states have a way of spiralling ever downwards, and with what is going on in the world right now it is difficult to not get caught up in things. Seems every which-way we turn there is news, images or conversations of the ‘downturn’…not just economically speaking, but also environmentally, politically, socially and all that. It’s important to remember that functions of individual consciousness also apply to global consciousness; negative emotional states have a way of spiralling ever downwards.

So we keep our focus on where we want to be, and where we want to go. Or else we follow the crowd and get pulled along where ever they are heading. It appears the ‘crowd’ is growing in size, emotions are rising – there’s that latent energy charging within the crowd, and it gives silent promise of a large and sudden expression. The media, governments, ‘alternative news sites’ are unconsciously and unintentionally feeding that energy, constantly peddling the dynamo, round and round and round.

It’s a reactive situation, so the key is to not be reactive. Instead we can come from the inner processes, being mindful and aware of what is occurring around us, whilst at the same time taking control of our life and our direction. Remember, the economic and political upheaval are symptoms of a problematic system. Be clear in awareness that you are not that system. We don’t have to be reactive. We simply move our awareness to a different place. Consider where you envision society being in six months, one year and one decade. Then take action that moves you towards preparation for all that. No need to view this in the ’survivalist’ sense – that too is a part of the old paradigm – view it instead as you would if you were moving home to a new country or culture. It’s simply a transition to a new way of life.

In short, in the new paradigm we are to learn how to be responsible for our own path, for our own learning, for our own way of being. It has been conclusively proven that systems do not work. So now we work from the inner world.

Things have been getting hectic – so now more then ever it is important to keep centred somewhat. It can be difficult to not get caught up in things, as the crazed wheels of politics and economics fly faster and faster threatening to finally shatter, pieces scattering to the distance. Truth be told that manic spinning has gained such momentum that it isn’t likely to be stopped. This moment, here and now then, is an approaching precipice, the energy is either harnessed and fed back into the system (which may well destroy it), or it is used and redirected into something new.

So the media and the politicians are running scared of the coming paradigm shift. Meanwhile the bankers and the rich are running scared of the self-imploding economy. All the while – if we listen, and we don’t have to listen very closely because it is being shouted at us – we are told nothing but doom and fear stories. Like I said, it’s hard not to get caught up in it all.

After all if the economy fails we are all in trouble, right? Just look at what has happened in Iceland.

That’s when I say it is time to stop and consider where we are directing our thoughts. At the end of 2007 I said that during this year, people would be confronted with the truth of the system we live under. That has all but happened, with most people split between concern and denial. Now, the fact remains that we must have more than just awareness of what is occurring. Let’s not think about taking steps to prevent what is occurring, or even to spread awareness. Whilst people have been sleeping, time has moved on – and we are now leaving the age of talk, and entering the age of action.

In 2009 more people will move towards creating their own reality, their own network of action. ‘The One Thing’ the Fat Controllers are scared witless of, is the people realising they don’t need the system. The stock market collapses, the chickens still lay eggs. Our perception of reality has been altered to such an extent that many believe everything stops and starts based on human systems. Nothing could be further from the truth.

So it’s time to create your own system. Time to get our act together and move out of discussing and towards acting. Focus on thinking about what you need in life, and consider how you can get those things with your own action.

Before the Monster Systems, people networked.

Returning is Becoming…

We are now riding a tide of change, and the quaking of the Materialistic World gives us indications of where that change could be heading. Western culture has built within its collective consciousness a false perspective of life. Our economic materialistic traditions have manifested an outward look upon life, where everything external to us has a value which can be weighed or balanced. With enough time, it was only natural that such an outlook would eventually cause time, pain, suffering and even human life to be perceived in terms of a value which can be weighed or balanced.

This system has proven to be not only ineffective, but completely destructive upon the human spirit and soul. This system, driven by complete greed and the desire for domination has been pushed beyond the threshold of what the population is capable of enduring and supporting. Most people can see this now as the house of cards is collapsing – the flaws are there for all to see. And though the collapse will take a few more years to unfold, whilst there will no doubt be many people in denial of what is occurring, it is now a readily apparent fact; the global power system is breaking apart.

The question then, is not one of panic or fear – but rather a question of opportunity; where do we go from here?

There are a number of scenarios. As the world starts dropping the US Dollar, a new currency will need to take its place – maybe a temporary return to the gold standard. But a new currency is not enough – an entirely new system will need to be built. Will it be one that is centrally controlled, via a European Union, and a North American Union?

Or will we see a different future? An economic collapse will bring with it unimagined problems, and in this there is an opportunity to learn a great lesson; the outward external gaze of western thinking has brought us to this place. This realization will spread across the entire planet, and slowly the trouble and suffering will cause humanity’s gaze to once again turn inwards – and with it we will have all the knowledge we have gained from the past century. If we, as a race chose this path then we will indeed have the potential to build an amazing future.

The Royal Bank of Scotland has advised clients to brace for a full-fledged crash in global stock and credit markets over the next three months as inflation paralyses the major central banks.“A very nasty period is soon to be upon us – be prepared,” said Bob Janjuah, the bank’s credit strategist.A report by the bank’s research team warns that the S&P 500 index of Wall Street equities is likely to fall by more than 300 points to around 1050 by September as “all the chickens come home to roost” from the excesses of the global boom, with contagion spreading across Europe and emerging markets.Global Market Collapse

From one of my posts back in June: Reverse Reality and the Economy

Three months later we are in September and things appear to be falling down. Lehman has ‘gone’, AIG has been bailed with a temporary loan (it’s worth being aware that in aiding AIG, the Federal Reserve has helped a private corporation which is not a bank!) The Bank of America has brought floundering Merrill Lynch.

In the UK the Halifax Bank of Scotland’s shares have plummeted, and they are now in take over talks.

In sinagpore hundreds of policy holders are queuing outside an AIG subsidiary in an attempt to claim their policies.

In Russia, stock market trading has been suspended for the second day, and there are suggestions that this trade suspension may be an indeffinate one.

All of the above has occurred within less than 3 days! My bet is that it is far from over.

So – where does that mean you stand? Are we all just going to sit on our arses and wait for the inevitable market crash? Well to be honest there isn’t a whole lot we can do, though it is a good time to ‘get ready’ for what is to come. Now this isn’t an attempt to scaremonger – but it is an attempt to remind people to be mindful of what is going on in the world. Stock up on dried food, learn how to make your own bread, remove your savings from your bank – it will be safer under your mattress – stock up on water and batteries.

There is no need for fear, but there is a need to respond to current circumstances. After all – what is the point in being aware, if we are only going to simply sit back and wait to see what happens. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and is available to everyone, but foresight can be a gift – and it shouldn’t be squandered.

When serving the public, use upright means.
When commanding troops in war,
employ the principle of surprise.
To win the world, do nothing to interfere with it.
Why? Because the more prohibitions and inhibitions
that are imposed on people,
The more difficult their lives become.
The more destructive weapons a nation or its people possess,
the poorer the people of that country become,
And the greater is the chaos that occurs in the world.
The more clever and crafty people become,
the more often strange things happen.
The more laws and ordinances there are,
the more criminals and dissidents will arise.

Therefore, the ancient sages of integral virtue said:
“I do nothing, and the people’s contention dissolves by itself.
I enjoy serenity, and the people rectify themselves.
I make no effort, and the people enrich themselves.
I have no desire, and the people return to simplicity.”

Silence, quietude…self-contained – these, for some people are traits. No, not virtues, oh no – nothing quite so highbrow – I am speaking of traits; those innate elements of an individual’s personality. Do you know many like this? The quiet type, you never really know what they are about or what they are doing – in fact they always seem to be doing something, yet there is nothing to see. Their work you see is a matter of passion – of deep inner drive. They don’t seek attention or praise, they don’t want to be held up high for all to see. Generally they talk very little about themselves.

They don’t erect any visible barriers, don’t hold aloof great signs which say ‘Look at what I do! This is me!’ This isn’t about meekness, or being humble – far from it. It is in fact down to a very simple principle; a matter of individuality. So different from the loud obnoxious or verbally proud types – the falsely perceived ’strong individuals’ – no, those types are making up for the inner turmoil they feel. They are seeking justification for their existence, demanding a cascade of material rewards, or esteemed attention, for it is this which they crave – it is nourishment for them. It is that which they need to sustain themselves. And yes – this type are as equally justified to their existence as anyone else upon this fair planet. Righteousness born from inner weakness after all is not a crime, and perhaps neither is it a flaw, at least none so more than any other trait.

Yet the loud, the obnoxious, the self-praised and the self-blessed – wear upon their cuff the mark of their inner world. Yes indeed, if only they could see that which is clear to all those but themselves. Enveloped as they are within a world of perpetual denial, the lies and half-lies – the twistings of words, concepts and notions – to which they hold secretly, yet vicariously, yet with pure unfettered will. The world is moved and transformed again and again if only to satiate their ever sensitive and precious ego. It is I state again and yes aloud – a matter of will. “Look! I am indeed this thing which I proclaim myself to be. I say again and again, and without bias or prejudice – without even a glance of self mockery (this Self cannot be mocked), and in so saying I mo(u)ld myself in my words. I am as I say I am!”

But then there is a common truth – most simple as all true truths are; actions speak louder than words. And oh, how many interpretations those words carry. Yes what, a prickly can of hornets – a real unwanted nest of dirty worms. I will say it louder then, yes; ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

Step back, perhaps close your mouth and watch me just as I watch you! Hear my words (no, don’t merely listen), as I hear your words. Yes words speak, words carry, words transform…

…words illuminate…

…words set free…

…words bind…

…words are nothing…everything…nothing and yes again, everything…

Words bely the minds behind them. What then do words show in the absence of action? When you speak and tell, but do not do? The mind carries outwards, it falls from the mouth from the eyes, and lands upon your lap and yet you do not notice, it is there for all to see who have a mind to do so (have a mind hehe).

And turn the notion about – look backwards, or sideways, or sidelong – whichever suits – and glance again at that phrase. What do actions say in the absence words? When someone does but does not say. When one achieves but does not display. When one puts up a mighty work of art, doing so in silence with nary a word. What do such actions say in the absence of words?

Meekness, humbleness? No – nothing so crass; look away and guess again. And guess and guess and guess…

…The joke is of a most snide hilarity, for though you may guess (and guess, and guess) you do not think to ask! What then do actions show when there are no words? Why – they show there is room for words – most assuredly, most certainly – ask, and ask again. After all, questions arise from the simplest cleanest of minds, questions drive us forward – ever onwards. Whilst answers (and most certainly assumed answers) drive us ever down, into a bog of ignorance and ultimately denial (I speak and speak and tell my words) why yes – your answers point to you, and thus the error is uncovered most astudiously, if only you are wont to look.

Follow that thought – don’t search for why I spoke it, don’t search for answers, don’t search for reasons (indeed all these are hanging on your cuff). You speak (no not you, but you) and you show yourself, when you assume you are looking in the mirror – but no, let’s not think on that, easier the road of self-denial, easier by far to reshape the entire world – if only to fit your assumed words. Better to guess and guess and guess.

Oh dear, enough! From whence do these guesses come from?

As I watch the comings and goings of both society and individuals, I keep asking myself the same question; ‘Are our expectations too high?’ Again and again one very simply thing leads me to this question; the fact so many people are always looking for the absence of things – for what something or someone isn’t. Now, this isn’t about simply having a negative point of view on life – after all possessing a negative frame of mind is as equally valid as possessing a positive one isn’t it? By negative I am meaning cynical. No, this attitude of ‘high expectations’ appears to me to be something quite different. It’s about dragging things down…

Next time you have a newspaper take a long hard look at the headlines (actually you won’t need to look very long), and you will see that the paper uses just a few words to convey a certain idea. These headlines put a spin on a story – they frame it within a certain context. Often when you read the story you discover it has very little bearing on the initial impression the grandiose headlines gave. Yet for many people that initial impression sticks.

This is very similar to a neuro-linguistic programming technique called ‘reframing’, which is all about changing the context in which we perceive things. We all know that most of life is about our state of mind; that from moment to moment we can look at the same thing in many different ways. Wikipedia uses the following quote:

For example, if a person is resting in bed and hears his bedroom door open, that exact same noise will have two totally different meanings to him and evoke drastically different reactions depending on whether (1) he is alone in a locked house, or (2) he had previously invited his friend over and left the back door to his house unlocked.

-

If we perceive something as a liability, that’s the message we deliver to our brain. Then the brain produces states that make it a reality. If we change our frame of reference by looking at the same situation from a different point of view, we can change the way we respond in life. We can change our representation or perception about anything and in a moment change our states and behaviors. This is what reframing is all about.

So as I mentioned, we see it all the time in the media – and it is also present in many other places. It is actually a favoured tool of the so called ‘critic’. Well actually there are at least two types of critic, let’s talk about the first type. The ‘common critic’ reframes the thing they are analysing to bring it within the scope of their personal frame of mind. In short, this sort of ‘critic’ has an unyielding and unmoveable mind…instead they move everything around them in order to fit it within their own personal perspective. Now this doesn’t only apply to the ‘critic’ but also to the media in general, as well as politics, corporate policies and unfortunately a great many individuals. The words ‘rigid’, ‘inflexible’ and ’short-sighted’ come to mind don’t they?

Now, the other type of critic is one who reframes their own mind in order to adapt to what they are analysing. This sort of critic is – to me – a ‘true critic’. They have a flexible mind. They don’t talk of something in terms of what it isn’t, or how this or that dialogue or scene should have been changed. They rarely mention anything in terms of failure, or ‘flawed characterisation’. Instead they talk in very different terms, often seeing a larger picture. They see that everything is inter-related, that each element of a structure is a part of a vast tapestry. They look for the whole as opposed to faulting the component. And if that ‘whole’ doesn’t gel, they will say so. On the other hand, the greater extent to which the components gel – the better the overall whole will be. The critic who understands this, is the only type worth reading.

So what does this have to do with ‘high expectations’? Well the problem is that people have high expectations of the ‘component’. They are more interested in what someone does, or how they appear – as opposed to what they achieve and what they do. Politicians have fantastic skill with this; they tell you one thing, then do another. Mostly people pay attention to the words. And on those occasions people do discover the politicians problematic actions? Well, it’s all very simple – the politician simply offers more words. You see – people are hooked on ‘components’! They snatch up these components like bait and then they get reeled in. Mostly people have high expectations towards the quality of the bait (components), and when it doesn’t measure up – suddenly things aren’t so good.

In the end, this topic can’t simply be summed up in a few words. I can’t make it into a sound-bite, or a component. But I can round off the point I am making. Some people want to change the world to fit their personal perspective, whilst others have a more dynamic personal perspective which changes from moment to moment, and situation to situation.
