Materialism mirroring Spirituality

As technology and scientific understanding drives ever forward, mankind is moving closer to literally re-creating reality. For thousands of years the mystics have understood certain elements of consciousness and exisitance on a profoundly deep level; the “spirit worlds”, meditation, and various other things. If we take a close look around us, it is pretty clear that replications of some of those aspects are manifesting in a different form through modern technology. Science has gained such a strong grasp on the physical world - that in essence it is re-creating a physical form of ancient spiritual elements.
Let me explain. For those that follow certain spiritual practices such as meditation for example, they learn about their awareness, consciousness and body on a whole new level. Meditation can be a difficult practice learned across years and decades. Up until a few decades ago, meditation was the only way to experience the inner worlds without the use of chemical or plant derived substances. Technology ultimately came into play in the form of binaural beats - and allowed the individual to have very similar - if not the same form of experiences, without the decades of practice.
This is the materialistic (physical) realm, mirroring the spiritual (non-physical) realm. Consciousness can very roughly be divided into two camps - physical consciousness, and spiritual consciousness. The former relates to the world in terms of physical understanding, it is an outward viewing perspective. The latter, views the word in more indefinable terms, it is fairly ambiguous, and is founded upon an inward perspective.

For the most part - over the millennia, societies with a materialistic awareness generally did not experience elements of reality that were spiritually tinted. Such experiences or notions did not fit into such a view of reality. Walking around dream worlds or telepathy, were considered largely non-sense. Whilst the idea of out of body experiences were clearly beyond what could be classed as “real”.
However, humanity has a natural drive to seek such things out. Technology has brought with it virtual (non-physical) worlds. Cyber enhancement allows for seeing without eyes, remote viewing and all manner of other possibilities. Quantum science is grasping the non-linear nature of time and parallel universes. A materialistic form of Out of Body Experiences has even been re-created in a lab.
Seemingly it would appear as though the once divide between the spiritual and physical is blurring. But whilst that is true on the surface - the divide still remains. However more is becoming possible in both realms.
Eventually, when man finally matures and moves away from a pure mechanical view of the world - the spiritual and science will merge. Whilst currently science is held in the hands of those with an ingrained religion of materialism, this will not always be the case; eventually their own science will show in undeniable terms the nature of their beliefs.
Perhaps it is an idealistic view, but if things unfold in that way - and on a long enough time-line they surely have to - it may well bring about a true balance between the physical and spiritual worlds.
