Naming and necessity

It seems that choosing a name is very important; on many levels we all know this - it’s a part of why we have so many doubts about naming. Have you ever noticed how people with similar names have similar [tag]personality traits[/tag]? How about run down towns that have downtrodden sounding [tag]names[/tag] - or posh towns with upmarket names? Names have the power to determine who we are - they can dictate how a place looks or feels. If we grant them the power that is.

Mostly every name or word will evoke a particular feeling, and that feeling gets projected upon the object of that word or name. Now I admit - I shout and rant at people from time-to-time. A lot of energy goes into such tantrums, and that energy gets released and then usually absorbed by the target of the tantrum. Some people are very sensitive to picking up on other peoples energy. You know, most people have probably felt such energy outbursts at some point. Someone shouting feels like a physical slap, another person is unbelievably ecstatically happy and next moment so are you. On one level it is a psychological thing - on another level, it is something else entirely.

Names and [tag]words[/tag] carry with them a vibration - a certain feeling that goes beyond the word itself. Science shows that the development of language mirrors our genetic structure, suggesting that language is more than merely the creation of our intellect. Instead it is something inimitable to who we are - to what is buried deeply within us.

The name given to something is a reflection from the depths of our capacities. It is an illustration painted with words, brought into the world in order to express what we see inside of ourselves. Ancient beliefs from all cultures hold to the idea that what we see in the world is merely illusory - that it is a manifestation of some great hidden power - either an aspect of God or an aspect of our shared dream. In our terms, I think we could simply say “As without, so within.”

It is not just the words we use that can have an affect on others (and ourselves), but the manner in which we use it. Two people may share the same name - but if one grew up with the name spoken to them in bitterness and hostility, then that persons countenance and appearance will carry with it a degree of bitterness and hostility.

I have realised that this is all very useful and practical information - because it forms a part of how reality communicates with us. It is a path into understanding the Symbolism of our journey that I talk about again and again. Everything we need to know is buried within us - we just need to know how to look for it. Be mindful of your words, pay attention to the feelings that go within. Try to determine whether those feelings arose of themselves or were caused to arise. Slowly you will find that a clearer perception of realitys symbolism will begin to resolve into your view.
