Physical and Spiritual Reality

Is there an inherent conflict between physical reality and spiritual reality? Or to put it another way, can physical science and metaphysical understanding exist side-by-side? This is a problem that a lot of people face, because we are raised in a physical world with physical beliefs and ideals. Most aspects of our culture have a very outward looking perspective. And I can understand why this is; physical reality is very easy to validate. You know what is in front of you - because it is there. You bump your head, you say ‘ow’ - then you know that both your head and the door are very much present.
With spiritual reality it is a lot different. Dreams for example are far less physical in nature. We all dream, but how could you relate your dream to another persons dream? There is nothing to compare, except for words and explanations - and that will be dependent upon the individuals ability with language. It’s this lack of physical evidence that led a long standing non-acceptance of lucid dreaming within the scientific community. Because one person experienced it and other hadn’t there was no way to prove lucid dreams were real and not imagined. Eventually, of course lucid dreams became accepted - but only because a test was developed that relied upon physical reactions.
That’s not to say that a physical perception of the world is bad, but it does limit our experience of things. If you need proof to believe in things you can be a long time waiting. The truth is most discoveries (that weren’t accidental) began from a simple idea, or notion - you can’t get much less physical than a thought form! Personally I prefer to keep an open mind and believe anything is possible until it is proven otherwise.
But that is not how we are educated is it? Instead we are taught to have a compartmentalized vision. To see the world in segments - each area unrelated to the other, until we find the parts that connect them. Most often that ‘connecting’ has to be done through life experience; after all, let’s face it - how much of what you learned at school turned out to be beneficial towards living life?
This compartmentalized vision is why science can’t resolve the differences between physics and quantum physics. The idea hasn’t arrived yet that perhaps two different systems can exist in the same place simultaneously.

Look at it this way - where does your mind go when you day dream? You feel like you leave your body - and almost jump when you come back round. Your awareness can actually feel as though it is separate from your body - yet it exists in the same place at the same time. This is spiritual reality - the non-physical side of yourself.
Next time you are in bed, close your eyes and just pay attention to your awareness of your body. After a while you will begin to feel the sensation of a ghost-like overlay of your body surrounding you. This is the energy that exists within you - your energy body - and it takes on the shape of your actual body. Now as you lay there, imagine this body stretching, your sensation will begin to change as the energy-body changes shape. Also imagine this body rolling or rotating around and around. You will begin to feel as though you are actually moving.
This is the two differing parts of our being existing in the same place at the same time. The physical and the non-physical. Everything around us exists in this same manner, every single thing has its own ethereal energy; from the furniture to the rocks outside to the trees and the plants. All living things carry this energy body, whilst inanimate objects carry a vague energy that binds them together.

It is in this manner that everything in life is linked. Reality is suffused with energy both physical and spiritual. As an individual, once you learn to experience the non-physical or spiritual energies, you begin to see the links between the physical world and the spiritual world. You begin to move towards the outer edges of your sphere of awareness and out into the next sphere.
This is when you start noticing synchronicities on an increasing rate. You start to see people in a different light and understand them on a deeper level, as you know about their spiritual energies even if they may not yet know of it themselves. And so you come to a greater appreciation of life and reality. It is a dramatic shift that opens up a lot of empathy and compassion for the world.
It’s a balanced way of existing because you no longer look for physical ‘proof’ for the spiritual. You know it exists because you can feel it and see it. And in doing that you begin to see how there really isn’t a separation between spiritual and physical reality, they actually exist together.

What’s real is what’s not real; what’s not real is what’s really real. I do think we are more aware of our spiritual natures than we realize, but because it sometimes does seep into our wakeful life we don’t differentiate between the two very well, nor do we have the language to describe it. Great thoughts.
[ Quote ]Great post Marcus!
[ Quote ]Synchronicities are surely an accompanying phenomena for this kind of understanding or realization. The problem I see here is that recognizing these requires some previous knowledge, some sort of education in this direction. This is what we lack to be able to be more aware and consciously aware of those. Angela is right, we are facing more of them than we realize. We just don’t know how to interpret them.
