Plant Spirit & Food, yum-yum

AppleI took it upon myself to make this the first year of home-grown food. I have been meaning to do it for years, but the ego has its way and things get in the way. Anyway, I planted some seeds and plants and had a fairly good crop. I began small, converting just a small area of the garden into a fruit and veg plot - all in all it has been pretty neat.

Shamanistic traditions often speak of the “plant spirit”; the life-force and being which resides within each and every plant. Of course these spirits vary depending upon which plant they inhabit, but there are many out there which are beneficial to humans. The Ayahuasca spirit is particularly potent, and has a lot to teach. And that seems to be the way with these spirits, when they are taken into the body they work their magic on us in deep, powerful and sometimes subtly ways.

So in my garden grew a number of plant spirits, each and everyone of which I have taken care of for the better part of this year. Nourishing them and watching them grow, ensuring they have a pleasant environment. Eventually the plants bear fruit and the veg grows deep roots, and at last it is time to harvest.

A lot of people say there is nothing quite like home grown fruit and veg, and I can attest to that. There are the obvious factors that the fruits aren’t genetically modified, and they haven’t been drowned in poisonous pesticides. And the taste cannot even be compared to shop purchased food. But there is far more to it than that. Home grown food is much more lively! It enriches the body not just in energy, but also in spirit.

Consider for a moment the dejected rearing that mass-produced fruit and veg as. Often genetically altered beyond what it is naturally meant to be, sprayed with poisons again and again, moved from pillar-to-post whilst being manhandled by dozens of people through dozens of environments. Just what does this do to the plant-spirit, what of the effect on the fruit or veg’s life-force?

It gets sick. It has to - any other living being would become sick of spirit - if not of body - under such conditions. Yet we consume these poor spirits readily enough. What effect then, does this have on our own body and spirit?

If you get a chance eat a home-grown strawberry or something, and then eat the equivalent shop purchased food. Play close attention to your bodies reaction - it will be decidedly different from one fruit to the other. It’s easy to see how this afflicts people, especially when combined with the other processed, chemical ridden stuff that is classed as food.

Strawberry

The energy and life-force within what we consume is vital to our health…this is knowledge that seems to have been forgotten. Even from a purely scientific-materialistic view-point this should be clear enough. Nevertheless it is a problem relatively easily solved; simple avoid it.

Next year I will be converting a much larger portion of the garden, and plan on growing all sorts of fruit and veg. Should be very nice indeed.

Yummy!
