i am in the same dilemma. the only way out, i think, is to become completely at peace with everything around you. salvia showed me that my attempts to fight fear through orginization and understanding are futile. Fear itself is a disgustingly irrational emotion. this is a battle that can only be won by not participating. accepting fear and the world around you, instead of molding it to perfection is the only way, for me at least, to conquer the beast.

Yes, it certainly isn't an experience you can prepare for.

I can totally understand that you wouldn't have been in an introspective mood during the experience! It can be rough going. Personally I didn't smoke the Salvia, I went for the Mazatec traditional method of chewing some fresh leaves (from my own plants). The experience is gentler than when smoked and comes on slower.

I think I can relate to why so many old cultures had rituals through which the participant faced death. It puts life in perspective...

When I took Salvia I wasnt ready but then how can anyone be ready? I smoked it in a bong and it hits instantly and gives about a 10min trip. I was fighting with thoughts I think I was fighting with emotions but also the fear of being stuck in that experience of horror.

I was beyond staying mindful of the experience, I would say the lesson has come afterwards in that it made me contemplate the fear of death alot more.

Thanks for the wonderful comment!

It seems to me that after such experiences, I find things both changed and unchanged.

After being forced to face my fears a number of times, I always find that life is much richer afterwards. And that yes, it is far easier to flow with life. Yet nothing physically changes after these experiences, though one undergoes a shift which changes everything

I imagine that observing ones own death would bring about the same effects, but manifold!

Beautiful.

You articulate human experience with such clarity.

What a wonderful lesson to learn.

I wonder, if, when one observes their own death, they find nothing has changed.

Simply flow.
