Spirit Play

There is a very special energy between parents and their children. Yesterday I went to a kids Christmas party with my daughter, and as I stood there open to the energy of the room, I witnessed something I hadn’t consciously noticed before.
This party was thrown by my wife’s workplace – work Christmas parties are usually a pretty dull or subdued affair. But kids have a way of lightening things up. The party was in an activity center, with climbing frames, ball-pits and all those things kids love. So the children were projecting massive amounts of fun happy energy as they ran about laughing and playing.
As I watched the people there – I noticed how open they were – everyone was full of joy, simply watching the kids play. What a stark contrast to those same people whilst in the office! All their barriers were down. No social parodies were being played out; everyone was content to simply be.
Suddenly I felt a deep kinship with all these people, a deep spiritual bond in recognition of the fact that inside our spiritual energy is all the same. No matter if we are dull, suppressed or an office-bully.
That was quite a lesson for me; it took me past the superficiality of what we pretend to be – and into what we actually are.
