Spiritual Vibe

A lot of places have their own ‘vibe’, I am sure you have quite often felt this - it is particularly notable in public places and buildings. These locations absorb a certain energy from the people that visit them, and this energy largely contributes to the places vibe. Those places that have recurring positive occurrences and emotions take on a positive vibe, and the same is true in reverse. You can truly learn about somewhere in this manner, it is often a ‘first impressions’ thing - it works in that way because when we enter a building for the first time we have little or no opinion about it. Therefore we are open to its energy. Later our thought process and opinions kick in and this can block our sensitivity to such energy.
Some people may put this down to mere ‘ambiance’, but there is far more to it than that. Churches and cathedrals are wonderful places for trying this out, but that isn’t to say that all such places give off a good vibe. At any rate, if you go into these places with a mind full of busy thoughts considering whether or not you believe in religion or god, then naturally you are blocking yourself from picking up on anything. So the trick is to keep an empty mindful mind. (Puts another twist on why are minds our kept so active all the time doesn’t it?)
I recently visited two cathedrals where this sort of energy was very pronounced. Salisbury Cathedral, very near to the fabled Stone Henge, and Winchester Cathedral some 30 miles or so to the east.
Salisbury was a very spiritual experience. The cathedral carried such a warm strong silence - it was truly reverent. Taking time to sit there and explore your inner self, is a great opportunity with a lot of reward. It was one of those experiences where words cannot do full justice - so see the photos I took for an idea on what it is like, although these photos obviously don’t convey the experience of being there. Salisbury itself and Stone Henge carry a phenomenal amount of energy (most of it very positive), and it is not hard to see why this location was chosen for the stone circle.

Winchester Cathedral on the other hand, was like a totally different world. The cathedral was very cold and lacked any real joyful emotion. It had a strong judgmental vibe about it. Both cathedrals had many statues inside - mostly of priests from over the centuries. The priest statues in Winchester Cathedral were hard featured, and very pious. You can learn a lot about a person from their expression. Winchester Cathedral is not a place I would like to have visited a few hundred years ago. The architecture here was very beautiful and grand, but the design was self-gratifying in a way. Geometry and architecture go hand-in-hand, there are many lost secrets within that knowledge, some of which concern human energy. Winchester took that energy rather than soothed it.

Sometime I will write a bit more about my visits to Stone Henge. There are thousands of places all other the Earth that contain all sorts of vibes, spiritual and otherwise. It would be great to travel the world to experience all this. Until then though it’s always nice to hear about peoples stories and experiences of these things.

Another interesting thought from The Thoughts! I am extremely sensitive to this phenomenon myself; it’s partly why I’m holed up here in Hawaii, where the energy is strong and full of love and aloha. A truly magical, mystical place.
[ Quote ]I got a nice vibe once from a prayer room on a college campus. Muslim and Christian students mainly used it but all that praying must have given it a lovely energy.
