Subliminal Reality

It’s funny what you begin to notice once you open your eyes to a world of all possibilities. An open mind, slowly freed from the dogma of everyday life finds a perception of reality that at first seems to border on the realms of madness, but on later inspection makes perfect sense. Bear with me, and I will elaborate.
A lot of the previous articles on this site have discussed freeing oneself from the ties of personal and social control. As those ties become severed, we may drift for a while – and honestly it’s often a frightening prospect – primarily because all the beliefs that were once comforting have been released. Without anything to hold onto our internal compass appears to go awry, after all if we can’t believe in the things we have been taught, then what else is there? That’s not an easy question to give a full answer to – because firstly the answer can only really be found with experience, and secondly the answer will be different for all of us. It perhaps sounds both silly and obvious, but life is a deeply personal experience. The distractions, regulations, rules, laws and dogma around us all too often cause us to miss out on that simple point. I have illustrated this issue on many occasions.
So cast adrift – without the indoctrinated beliefs and conditioning can be tough indeed, both on the spirit and on the physical. Although we may intellectually and consciously have learnt and accepted that consensus reality is a sham, the sub-conscious still holds onto it like a life-raft. This in itself causes all manner of confusion as one becomes torn between the old dogmatic world, and the new true reality. Maybe at some point I will discuss my own experience with this, but it is very personal, and therefore unique to the individual – meaning it is of little value to this article. For now its enough to be aware of the prospect of feeling lost on the journey to new perceptions.
Unlike consensus reality, true reality has some strange attributes that do not necessarily work with logic or reason (the limits of which I have discussed many times before). In many ways the lines between the possible and impossible blur as one understands that “impossible” is an illusion of a dogmatic mind. In this reality our dreams speak to us in profound ways, and the waking physical world contains many oddities unexplainable within the bounds of consensus reality. Slowly we can begin to see patterns emerge within the world and our interactions with it and other people. These patterns, symbols and occurrences appear on an almost subliminal level – and this in itself shows us why the mind needs to be free of its old conditioning.
As we live out our lives and go through our routines we fall into many patterns, further, vast levels of subtlety lay within the contexts of all our interactions; whether these interactions be with other people, or consist merely of us looking at something around us.
Socially we play off other people in our lives in a most dynamic way. Next time someone speaks to you, watch your own feelings, and listen and watch as the words form in your mind as you react to someone talking to you. Your reaction may occur instantaneous, as someone discusses with you something as banal as what they had for dinner last night. Your response occurs on an almost subconscious level as you reply. “We had a lovely chicken for dinner last night.” she says. Your reply hits back with almost automated efficiency. Within the contexts of that reaction lays many of the patterns and subtleties of your sub-conscious. And deeper still – each new lesson within those subtleties brings with it a little titbit of reality.
These are a part of the many subliminal levels of our lives; the undercurrents of reality that speak to us deeply and profoundly. Within these realms we can learn to see our sub-conscious as it communicates with us. But further still, via this same means we can begin to see additional patterns and “subliminals” within almost every aspect of our external reality, as we discover that reality itself is constantly communicating with us.
I mentioned above that dreams form a large aspect of this – I will discuss this at a later date in an article dedicated to the subject. In these dreams we see symbolism and representations; often we may see real occurrences or objects. Some dreams come from the subconscious, and it appears that other dreams may come to us from external sources.
This is also true for our waking reality. Symbols and subtleties exist all around us constantly – I do not necessarily refer to the manmade effigies or artefacts. Rather something deeper within the physical world around us; the patterns that occur within the grass as it is blown by the wind. The forms and profiles in the sky – we have all seen “shapes” in the clouds – but this goes far beyond that into accurate geometric shapes or patterns in the clouds. Not always seen within what is there, but often also with a combination of what isn’t there. Look at something with fresh eyes, and you will begin to see that an object, a tree or anything else is made up as much of the space around it and the space within it, as it is of the materials that construct it.
Reality plays out in an almost subliminal level – and as we pass through it day to day in a dogmatic manner we miss out on so much of it. We watch yet only see a fraction of what occurs, we listen yet only hear a fraction. Reality is rich and diverse, undercurrents and subtleties exist almost invisibly to our everyday awareness. As we push the boundaries of our mind, and free ourselves from consensus reality – we may at first begin to feel lost. But the world around us is showing us the way constantly. All we need do is somehow learn to accept this and trust in our beings and reality of each and every moment…
