The Jesus Bunny says; “Happy Chocolate Day!”

Things slowly come around in full circle, as the wheel of history repeats itself – the populace ever oblivious to its methodical turning.

The rabbit is inherently a pagan symbol, representing fertility and rebirth. When the Church adopted the Easter festival as its own, it easily accommodated the aspect of rebirth. The conscious mind of the people slowly moved from more open pagan beliefs to narrowly focused ideals set by a singular church. The assimilation of old traditions into new and developing power structures has always been a successful technique for control. Commercials use it all the time with speech patterns and key phrases that enter the mind as memes – to be mindlessly repeated.

The Egg is also a symbol of birth and rebirth – going back to ancient times, long before Christianity. In present times the new religions of consumerism, materialism and consumption have adopted the symbols of the egg and the rabbit – much as the religion of Christianity did before it. The themes come back again and again – each time with a different focus, using the same means to achieve different goals as the population’s attention is diverted precisely where the controllers wish it.

Every year Easter seems to become a more important holiday, rivaling Christmas and Halloween, aiming to empty our wallets at an increasingly rapid pace. Not that it is a problem, as this is what our jobs are for.

Anyway – now I am off to eat some chocolate, kindly hand-delivered by the Jesus Bunny – and maybe pray to the fortuitous God of Wages.
