Although the UK powers-that-be, can create an invisible tank, it seems the Tax Office can’t secure the private data of its citizens. Information on 25 million (!!) peoples bank accounts has gone missing in what is being claimed to be a “bureaucratic” error.

Two computer discs holding the personal details of all families in the UK with a child under 16 have gone missing.

The Child Benefit data on them includes name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number and, where relevant, bank details of 25m people.

A little while ago I noticed this new ‘propsed’ change of definition on the word ‘Privacy’

WASHINGTON (AP) — As Congress debates new rules for government eavesdropping, a top intelligence official says it is time that people in the United States changed their definition of privacy.

Privacy no longer can mean anonymity, says Donald Kerr, the principal deputy director of national intelligence. Instead, it should mean that government and businesses properly safeguards people’s private communications and financial information.

Kerr’s comments come as Congress is taking a second look at the Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Act.

Definition Changing for People’s Privacy

That all kind of sums itself up doesn’t it?

Do you ever wonder what sort of world we are heading for? I think about that quite often - and I am optimistic about the long-term future of humanity. It’s the short to medium term that worries me. Too many people haven’t learnt history’s lesson.
